What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin disease that typically develops in adults beginning in their thirties. Early symptoms include a tendency to blush frequently, soon followed by redness and acne-like bumps across the face, neck, back, and chest. Other symptoms include raised blood vessels, eye irritation, and severe swelling of the skin on the nose. Many suffer from rosacea and acne.
How is Rosacea treated?
Treatment is tailored towards the symptoms. The redness, bumps, and pimples are typically treated with some combination of oral and topical medicines. A surgical laser can be used to remove the visible blood vessels and to correct disfigurement of the nose. The eye irritation can be treated with oral antibiotics. |
